When I was 13 years old.

It was 1977 or '78.  I was just beginning 7th grade at Taft Jr. High School.  KISS had just sky rocketed to popularity on the music scene.  A couple of friends of mine and myself were fans instantly.  We would get together and listen to KISS records and talk about forming a band.  One cold early winter afternoon I came to my friends house and they suprised me by sitting me down in front of a small tiger striped 5 piece drum set and a Hohner electric guitar hooked up to a small amplifier and played 'Rock 'n' Roll All Nite'.  Those guys got their instruments and started learning to play and learned a song together without telling me!  Needless to say, I went home, announced I wanted to learn to play the guitar and with some arm twisting was able to get my folks to invest in a Hohner acoustic guitar and lessons.  That turned into a lifetime love of music.  Dreams of painted faces, and afternoons spent listening to KISS soon took other directions, but we maintained a love of rock 'n' roll and the instruments we played.  A few years later we formed a band and played out some.  Anybody got a similar story.  By the way, with practice and within a years time we were jamming to bastille day by Rush.
